Over 40,000 Soccer Fans Make Their Way to Yankee Stadium For Historic 1st Game

New York City’s FC held their first Major League Soccer match at Yankee Stadium yesterday — and won against Boston’s New England Revolution team. According to estimates, over 40,000 fans came out to this first historic day — something they will hopefully be doing for the next 3 years as soccer and baseball will share a home at Yankee Stadium.

In a meeting held last week at Bronx Legal Services by concerned community members about the proposed Major League Soccer stadium sweetheart deal, it was revealed by several individuals that Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr was proceeding cautiously with this deal as to not make the same mistake he made with the FreshDirect deal.

On December 10th community residents, concerned over yet another sweetheart deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars being dumped in the Bronx without any community input, met at the offices of Bronx Legal Services.

Taxpayers Expected To Fund Soccer Stadium To Be Built In The Bronx

A soccer stadium deal with a reported price tag of anywhere from $300 million to $400 million seems to have been made behind the back of the community.

Just last night, dozens of community members gathered at the offices of Bronx Legal Services to discuss the deals that were being made without any community input in relation to the proposed Major League Soccer stadium for the New York City Football Club.
