BREAKING NEWS: Bronx Protesters Take Over City Council Meeting for Jerome Avenue Rezoning

Protesters from The Bronx have stopped NYC Council Stated Meeting to approve the Jerome Avenue Rezoning during Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson’s speech.

Protesters began yelling demanding “WHAT DO WE WANT? AFFORDABLE HOUSING!” “WHEN WE SAY THE BRONX WE SAY POWER!!!”

“NO REZONING! NO REZONING! NO REZONING!” “WHO’S BRONX? OUR BRONX!” “DISCRIMINATION ON THE POOR!” “THE PEOPLE UNITED, WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED!”

NYC Speaker Corey Johnson had everyone removed but the meeting was stopped for about 10 minutes.

Gibson resumed her speech shortly thereafter.

We will report back once the vote has taken place.
