Frida Kahlo Exhibition Shatters New York Botanical Garden Attendance Record

Last year when we first got wind that The New York Botanical Garden was planning a Frida Kahlo exhibition we knew it was going to be big—but never imagined how big.

When we wrote about the show coming, a full year before it was scheduled to open, tens of thousands of people flooded our servers and shared our posts in excitement that this was happening and that it was happening in The Bronx.

Port Morris Distillery Severs Partnership With FreshDirect After Community Protests

Last Thursday an event was held at Port Morris Distillery with The Bronx Brewery, Ruben Diaz Jr, FreshDirect, Marlene Cintron, Executive Director of the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation to celebrate the newly formed business partnership between PMD and FreshDirect.

Chipotle To Join Starbucks in Melrose in The South Bronx

Here comes the wave of generic, not-so-unique chains.

According to construction workers at The Melrose Building at 260 East 161st Street where a Starbucks just recently opened, the popular fast food chain Chipotle is coming.

Although we were unable to confirm this with the food chain or management at 260 East 161st Street, plenty of construction workers at the space confirmed that indeed Chipotle was coming to Melrose.

Gothamist Thinks Only 2 Pizza Shops in The Bronx Are Good out of 24 They Chose Citywide!

It’s a time honored tradition in New York City: The Battle of the Best Pizzas in Town which every publication puts out at least once a year. Gothamist just put out the 24 best pizza places in NYC and ONLY 2 Bronx shops made the cut? They also had the audacity to say anyone who disagrees with this list is wrong. Clearly they haven’t traveled far and wide and did their homework like Chris Crowley did earlier this year.

Take the Survey: South Bronx Starbucks Wars—Yes Or No to Their New Location?

Since we posted about Starbucks coming invading the South Bronx and opening up shop in Melrose, many folks have spoken for or against its opening in the neighborhood. So far the vast majority across all social media networks have overwhelmingly commented that they are not happy with the corporate giant opening up in the South Bronx.

So we’re turning to YOU to take a quick poll and see where your loyalties are. This survey is in no way scientific, we just want to know how YOU feel.

Starbucks Invades The South Bronx; Corporate Behemoth to Open in Melrose

And then there was Starbucks, the harbinger of gentrification.

Melrose and the surrounding area is experiencing a boom in cafes.

Starbucks is gearing up to open its first official South Bronx location in Melrose on 161st Street at Concourse Village East/Morris Avenue at The Melrose Building in a neighborhood and corridor where two cafes are slated to open and The Bronx Museum’s XM Cafe (that will be serving up The Bronx’s own Morris Perk’s ‘Bronx Blend’) is opening any day now.

Colombian Restaurant, La Masa in Morris Park, Is Simply As Good as it Gets

In a sea of the green, white, and red of Italian flags that dominate Morris Park sits La Masa, a Colombian restaurant proudly displaying their flags and colors outside their eatery.

For decades, Morris Park was a predominantly Italian ethnic neighborhood but over the past years it has become increasingly mixed with a diverse population that is very representative of the beautiful tapestry of the people that make up our borough.

Be a Part of History: Are You Ready To Boogie On The Boulevard One More Time This Sunday?

This Sunday from Noon to 4PM is your LAST CHANCE to Boogie on The Boulevard in 2015 for this 3 Sunday summer event which closes off the center lanes of The Grand Concourse between 161st and 167th Street—a full 7 city block stretch—transforming this area into a huge an approximately 4.75 acre recreational space filled with fitness and health activities, art, dancing, bike riding, skating, performing arts and so much more!

This Sunday will also have a special treat for everyone: Morris Perk will be stationed inside The Bronx Museum serving their popular Bronx Blend coffee, limeade, and delicious pastelitos (aka pastelillos aka empanadas) made locally right here in The Bronx supporting other Bronx women owned businesses! (The last two times Morris Perk served all of this deliciousness, they sold out so make sure to get there early before they are all sold out!

Submissions Received, Now It’s Time to Choose A Name For The Bronx Museum’s New Cafe!

As you know, we’ve partnered with The Bronx Museum along with BronxMama and The Bronx Socialite to engage our fellow Bronxites in choosing a name for a new cafe that will operate at The Bronx Museum. The bonus? It will be serving Morris Perk’s Bronx Blend which our borough has fallen in love with over the past year with proprietor, Lovie Pignata’s Morris Perk Pop-Ups across every type of business, organization and corner of our wonderful borough.

This Video Pretty Much Sums Up Why We Love The REAL Little Italy & The Bronx’s Italian Restaurants

In a borough that is home to so many great mom and pop restaurants and the home of Arthur Ave, New York City’s REAL Little Italy, it always baffles me why someone in The Bronx would choose to go to a chain restaurant like the Olive Garden.

That’s DEFINITELY not the ‘cucina italaliana’ (Italian kitchen) I grew up with spending time with my Italian high school friends and their families.
